synopsis

Coquelicots_Affiche light

Where do the images of the First World War that haunt our imagination come from ? To actually visualize the Great War, rather than just hearing about it, to portray it and bring it to life again : that is what today’s comic books capable of.

By delving into archives and historical accounts, the comic book illustrators in this film take us back in time. They bring the First World War to life in our imagination : their drawings are more than just strokes of a pen.

These major artists have made the Great War the main subject of their graphic narratives. In their company, we will try to trace the fragmented memory of 1914 – 1918 as a comic book chronicle.
